Their on-demand result are the --exact same-- as AV-Comparatives.org. It seems as though ProtectStar is using the same samples as AV-Comparatives or they are using their results.

Avira, GData & Kaspersky the top 3, as always :thumb:

Anyone with a minimal understanding of German can easily find out it's the latter. ;D

IBK had said that he would test Trend Micro and Panda. We finally got to see their scores. I was leaning towards a fail for Panda but i guess Panda is better than I thought.

Testing Trend on one machine at the moment. Runs pretty good, I must admit.

It appears that NIS 2008 came out #1 going by pages 15-16.

EDIT: The X was quicker on the draw :)

I believe he was on page 7.
The results are maybe a little confusing, at least to us who do not speak German.
An English translation is available in April.

Then you must be having sight problems :) The end result (page 17):

Platz=place, Punkten=points

1. Platz mit 188.7 Punkten an:
Norton Internet Security 2008
2. Platz mit 188.0 Punkten an:
Trend Micro Internet Security 2008
3. Platz mit 187.6 Punkten an:
Avira Premium Security Suite 2008

So no GDATA and Kaspersky....

I guess since NIS won, no one believes the article :-)

You can have a point there. I already see the Eset crowd praise their Lord with their fifth place in the test. As if it won :)

How light does it run? I tested 2007 and it was a memory hog and slowed down my box. I think I read that 2008 is much lighter- is that what you are seeing?

But that has nothing to do with the winners, does it? The first three are the winners, under there are sofwtare packages that did not so good as the first three. Ans ESS can have every recomendation as they want, they were not in the top three.

Correct.
Regulat version runs quiet smooth and it is even faster with the new beta engine

Hi all,

Yeah, I saw today that ProtectStar published the test report in English. Here is the direct link: http://www.protectstar-testlab.org/award/protectstar-iss2008test_eng_web.pdf

A whole bunch of off topic posts were removed. This thread is not about someone's different approach or the someone who posted it. Please stay on topic.

So you like this top three? What about AV-Comparatives where Eset based on the tester's criteria is first or second on virtually every test. Don't like that test?

I needed to edit/delete the post or I'd be banned from the fórum... hehehe...

Ok... the results are a nonsense for me... That's all for now...

You're not alone

they determinate the "price" of the product as being a 'valid' measure for the test :thumbd:
It has nothing to do with security :thumbd:

Hi guys,

did you really read the complete test report from the beginning?!?
At my opinion the test is really good and has nothing to do with the other evaluation procedures and test results from the computer magazines
