View Full Version : Spywareguard Browser Protection Alert - HijackThis Log att.

At least once per minute, sometimes more, I get the Spywareguard Browser Protection Alert with a warning that my IE homepage has been changed. Although I appreciate the warning, isn't there *anything* I can do to either automate the response (Restore Old Value) or to block the rascals that are attempting the change?

This is really a nuisance!!

There are a few possibilities here. Most likely, you've got some form of spyware on your system that is actually making these changes and SpywareGuard is catching it. You could post a HijackThis Log here in order to have the experts look at what that might be, and to help you fix it. Follow the instructions in this thread for that:

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913

Another possibility is it's a bogus alert and something wrong between your browser and SpywareGuard. If the HijackThis log doesn't turn up anything, we should consider that possibility although it is less likely.

Ah, well hopefully the 5th time's the charm. ;)

The various experts that stop through here are in different time zones, so it may be a few hours before someone replies, but you never know. So please check back if no answer comes immediately.

Thanks. I'll try to be patient, but....grrrr!! Can't hardly get a thing done with that stupid thing popping up all the time. And the funny thing is that it says that my homepage is getting changed from http://www.msn.com/ to http://www.msn.com (note that one has the forward slash at the end and the other doesn't).

What up with THAT??

Ah, hang on a second... That type of change that's not really much of a change, we've seen that before. You should keep a close eye on this thread, too:

Hmmm....that's very interesting!! I added my $.02 to the other thread, too.

Try disabling the Startpage protection in Spysweeper, if you have that enabled.
