microcassette to vhs question

I have a question about a vhs tape I "listened to" today. What was odd was that the original recording was on a microcassette and a copy was sent to me on vhs- so I only received the audio obviously. The question I have- is there some benefit to someone sending me a microcassette copied to vhs? I can only think that the vhs being larger would be more difficult to lose in an office (believe me, it happens).

The only advantage that I can see is that VHS players should still be quite common while cassette players (normal and micro) are a dying breed.
