If you select to automatically validate a differential backup after completion, will it just validate that differential backup or will it validate the whole folder?

That option should be under Additional Settings in the Set The Options Manually section.

Sorry, I found the "automatic" switch in the settings.
Is there a way to schedule a task to just validate the differential backup and not the whole folder with the full backup?

AFAIK - no. It will validate the set. There can be any number of backup files in the "folder", but if you choose to validate one, TI will validate how ever many files are a part of the set which includes your choice.
