Free DVD Burner for Vista?

We need free DVD burner for Vista for Dell laptop.

Nero just does not work anymore after updates.. its not compatible.

Its only for Vista, but you can disable it iirc.

i may have to give infra another shot since i just cant stand nero anymore.. what will this not do that nero does (just speaking of the burning engine nothing more) thanks

bah same results as last time with infra.. sorry no thanks. wasted 2 cdr's already from bad burns these burn fine with ashampoo

only thing about ashampoo is imo it makes bad quality audio discs... they just do NOT sound as good as nero or gear, and ashampoo does not write track names unless you get them from the internet database which stinks.. just fyi..

i just burned 3 discs with the same tracks one with nero one with ashampoo and one with infra. the infra did not finish i got a error message.. the nero finished and is LOUD sounds great.. and ashampoo is WAY TO QUIET at max volume its still half as loud as the nero disc at half volume... and does not sound nearly as good i did try with normalize on and off in ashampoo as well with the same results

also imo it appears infra is based on the gear engine. i may be wrong but man it is sooooo similar to it..

I use StarBurn, it will burn about any format there is and so far it has copied every copyrighted DVD I have tried and there is a free version http://www.rocketdivision.com/download_starburn.html The commercial version is almost $500.00

yes i tried even verbatim media same result.. ahh okay it looked a lot like the gear engine.. I LOVE GEAR... BUT it doesnt offer me enough options but i have to say that engine rocks.. never had a single issue or coaster yet from it..

looks very nice... more info c?? how large is it?? resource usage... does it cover all bases?? thanks figured i can ask since you use it...can you tell me is there any real advantages to the paid version?

The only advantage of the paid version seems to be "networking burning features" and at $495, its very expensive.

The paid version at $500 gives you the ability to burn images over a network. That is the only difference I see. It runs light on resources is simple to use and it pretty much does it all including virtual CD/DVD drives on your comp I have used quite a few burners but this one works really well. I still will use Ashampoo for a simple burn sometimes but StarBurn is my Fav. SB's folder in program files is 24.7Mb's unless you have it pulled up in use it doesn't use any resources that I can see.

It doesn't seem to phone home. Unless it was just recently released as free I don't know why it isn't used more? But I sure do use it. quite a lot as a matter of fact. Backing up my fairly extensive DVD collection.:thumb:

well i can say it does work well in all respects imo except burning a audio disc from mp3's.... WOWOWOWOW does it take a LONG time to load the tracks to get them ready to burn.... i loaded up 10 tracks and i sat here for nearly 15-20 minutes waiting for it to get them ready to burn and this is on a new core 2 system with 4gb of ram... def should be a lot faster than that but for everything else (like ashampoo lol) it works very well
