Dear all,

Next beta for home users has just been uploaded on the servers:
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal v.5.0.37 beta
You can download it here.
It has the same with KAV for Desktops GUI, the difference is in some corrections and improvements.
It now has three modes for Updater:

1. Normal
2. Extended
3. Redundant (for X-files)

You can protect your program with a password.

You are welcome to try it out.

Regards,
Igor

@Igor

I would like to know whether ...

1.
KAV 5 will offer a better detection rate than KAV 4;

2.
there are any changes of the scan engine;

3.
ACProtect, Armadillo, PCGuard etc. will be taken care of;

4.
a solution against AVP Offset will be provided;

5.
it is planned to develop a mem scanner;

6.
the following statement is true:

"At least one comment there is not factual, re KAV. In my observing of the trojan scene I have been exposed to papers on KAV and its 2 pairs of signatures for most detection. This is 6-8 bytes as a marker to get an initial detection then a larger detection to make sure it really is what the scanner thinks it is. Also some fuzzy detection it seems with "new variant of". This is a good thing that needs to continue."?

TIA

Thanks Zillions

I will give this one a try. I have been waiting for the new update features in this beta ;D
I was thinking it would be an update to the existing beta but I will uninstall the other version and install this one using the same key.

Controller, there is a new key with the new beta.
Some of the problems that some are reporting may be due to an incomplete uninstall of beta one. After I uninstalled Beta 1 I cleaned the registry with jv16 and it found over 30 keys had been left. I reported this to <betatest@kaspersky.com>
I also noticed that I had to set KAV not to run at startup to keep the service from starting before uninstalling and it important to reboot after the uninstall.
Doing a good uninstall and reinstall may help you gkweb. If not, I hope you have reported this to the beta team. They do not reply, but they do work on the fixes for the problems reported. The pop 3 scanner is working great for me with Poco email.

I have uninstalled KAV and reinstalled it, but still the same issue.
I have tried by disabling any other security software, but it doesn't work.
As soon as i disable the KAV mail scanner, all works again.

Hi

One of the reasons I wanted to see the extended and redundant
Options added were to see if they catch commercial key loggers.
As of this morning, the new KAV beta is not detecting them.
I have tried updating only the extended, then right click scanning and I have tried only updating the redundant and right click scanning.
I have KAV set for maximun protection in the on-demand settings.

To everybody from Firefighter!

I'm using KAV 5.0 Personal beta just now and those extended updates are not working well in my mind. At first I updated my KAV beta with "Redundant" files and it was capable to detect 57 viruses or malicious programs from my "Infected CD" collection. After that I updated KAV with "Normal" updates when the program detection database was some 2 thousand detections smaller than it was with "Redundant" database. With "Normal" database KAV was capable to detect 38 viruses.

Now, after rebooting my PC, I'm using those "Redundant" updates again and I checked that their database was some 2 thousand larger than it was with "Normal" database, but KAV was only capable to detect those 38 viruses as it was with those "Normal" database.

I think that there isn't all things right just now!

"The truth is out there, but it hurts!"

Best regards,
