Hi Everyone,
Is there any kind of comprehensive RegDefend/AppDefend doc anywhere?
I ask because I ran into a situation where GSS was eating up a crud load of memory and a huge chunk of my CPU cycles and after going through the forums I found that it was because my p2p application's allowed network connections were being logged and generating (literally) tens of thousands of entries in a very short time (in fact, after having the machine up for an extended period of time it would crash because GSS would simply consume all of the physical memory - and that was with 4 GB of RAM and an 8 GB page file :o ).
To fix this, I went into GSS|AppDefend and turned off logging on the Network Access entry for my p2p app and in doing this, I noticed that there were three states available for the checkbox: Checked, Uncheked and something in the middle (i.e., checked but the check was low-lighted as if there were a subset of options that had entries enabled and disabled). I was curious what this in between state meant and what the difference was between checked and in between checked but when I went searching for doc, I couldn't find anything - that includes searching the Ghost Security site, in the installation directory and the forums. I'm positive I'm just being dense and missing it but I really can't find it and it would be most helpful to have.
Anyone know of anything that might be beneficial?
Many thanks,
P
