Don't want to spoil your post from the start but as I surf safely without any of these "protections" and always feel good I would have to say "does it really matter ?"

Safespace sound like a neat program. Sandboxie is liked by many ( not me) and if a user went looking for trouble either might be of use. If forced to use only one it would have to be Safespace ... but as soon as no one was looking I would revert to my evil ways.

I was wondering the same thing...

When I reinstalled XP for the first time in Dec., I installed Sbie because I needed to ask a question that couldn't wait. The only other security I had was my Nat router and Windows firewall. That may not sound like a big deal to many, but that says a lot about my trust in Sandboxie ;).

Innerpeace, I know how you feel. I have decided on SafeSpace and nothing else. It works fine, just as Sandboxie, I have EAZ-FIX when needed and as far as robodog, well, who cares, here in the states we have "Lassie".;)

From what I can see, SafeSpace works the exact same way as "DefenseWall", am I right or not? Is it also as secure?

I think it works the same but feel SS is tighter. Plus it is free.

DefenseWall- restricts and is a great product
SafeSpace-vaporizes and is a great product

It comes down to one of those scenarios where a person has to try both to see which fits their needs.

Application based virtualisation sandboxes (1) are different in usage from policy sandboxes (2)

(1) Sandboxie and SafeSpace require a user who knows what he/she is doing
(2) GeSWall and DefenseWall reallty are no brainers in day to day usage.

When you know what you are doing, SafeSpace is a good application for, whetn other people are also using the PC I would prefer DefenseWall.

Trjam, I would add Comodo in this setup http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=199867 to SafeSpace, plus an on-demand AV which you should use before creating images with EAZ FIX

thanks kees. I added Eset for scanning before a snapshot because it scans so quick. I keep my browser and Vista email enclosed in SafeSpace. It really works well.

Right on spot Kees.;) On the family computer I had to install DW, my wife just could not deal with Sanboxie.

But nevetheless, DW is doing his job quite well.:)

I use SS standalone with only Mamutu as second app in the back.
OnDemand-Scans with Virustotal and over 10 MB with Dr.Web CureIT after download executable Files.
From Time to Time Scans with PrevxCSI, Ewido Micro, Rootkid Scanner.
No Problems here and I feel safe enough.

I've been running SafeSpace and Avira Premium Security Suite for quite some time and I love them both!

I was wondering the same... Do I even need an AV app with SafeSpace securing Windows against malware derived from browsing, emailing and P2P apps? Am I crazy to think this????

SafeSpace is free, but they're working on a Pro version (no details on what it will include) but I'm so impressed with SS that I'll pay for their Pro version!

Heavier how? In product size, yes. But I know my web browsing is a hell of alot faster then with Sandboxie. I love Sandboxie, dont get me wrong. But I think Blue said, and I agree, that light virtualization is better then sandboxing. With a good AV that is.;)

Is it? For me, the mem and computer performence goes down to a crawl when i use safespace. I see yours works fine.
