Unless I use Maya, CATIA and 3DS Max on the go, quad-cores on notebooks are pointless at current TDP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_Design_Power).
Oh, some kid may want to run Crysis on his oversized laptop ::)

Seriously, this is useless except for the hardcore, more money than sense gamer. For $7,295 you can buy a high-end upgradeable workstation with lots of screen real-state and a proper mobile computer (ultraportable)

With a quad core pumping out da heat, I guess it will fry your er..critical components rather quickly, if you actually try to use it on your lap;D

Heavy, bulky and overpriced..a waste of money IMO..

I agree with the overkill. In reality I would never have need of anything with this power or set up. It was all in fun. ;D

5 minute battery life and have your arm broken off no thanks;D
quad core is not needed on a laptop.
not even triple SLI with 8800 ultra's can play crysis at full settings.

I never got the concept of a desktop replacement. For double the price of a workstation, you can get a 5-7kg monster that is not portable either.

Really though who would want all that in a laptop? For someone who does maya and all those other demanding appps they would just need dualcore and 3GB which is the current highest setup you can buy in stores. SLI in a laptop? Who wants their battery to die within half an hour when you buy a laptop for portability?

Is it even possible to put quad-core in a laptop without making it the size of a brick?

It may be the only laptop with quad-core for years to come so they can atleast have bragging rights for making one :D.

I dont think people buy desktop replacement laptops for its portability. And theyll proabably keep it plugged in too.

As for size, its 397(W) x 298(D) x 51~60(H)mm.

Lol with the heat that thing must generate it should come with pots and pans so you can cook your dinner on it. A serious beastie.

I bought one of these types of beasties as a small desktop replacement. Couldn't take the long hours and the mobo burnt out. Fixed, and now I use it with a spire fan, that really makes a huge difference.

Battery life. Less then an hour.

Also at 13 pounds it really wasn't mobile.
