De-select: Show splash-screen at startup

Firefox is making me problems , too , especially on XP computers . But they are not related to EAV/ESS.
1. Open the user interface (GUI) and press F5 to open the Advanced Setup tree
2. Goto Web access protection -> HTTP -> Web browsers -> Active mode and make sure nothing is checked there

3. Navigate to Web access protection -> HTTP -> Web browsers and make sure no application is checked there
4. Goto Personal firewall -> Protocol filtering and make sure you have checked "HTTP and POP3 ports only"

Reboot the computer and try again ! :thumb:

No problems with Firefox here in XP, need some help?
troubleshoot (http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/faq#troubeshoot-addons)
Mozillazine Knowledge Base seems to be down right now, but there's a standard diagnostic page there that might help.

I do have trouble here too -is it 2.0.0.12?
How can I go back to 2.0.0.11?

I don't understand why Firefox is giving problems. I run mine with lots of extensions:
Noscript, Adblock Plus, Answers, Colorful Tabs, Fasterfox, Forecast Fox, Webmail Notifier, Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer, IE Tab, Tab Scope and Time Tracker.
I have 2.0.0.12.
I have it set up in ESS as a web browser.and under Protocol filtering it is set to: Redirect traffic for filtering for - ports and applications marked as internet browsers or email clients.
I didn't set it up to use active mode.
Even with all this going on Task Manager shows the CPU consumption to range between Zero and thirty percent while I am web browsing.
I have XP x64 edition.
I wouldn't blame Firefox or ESS for that. It's working great here.

Not the right solution, see here:
Sticky: Problems after Updating Firefox - MozillaZine Forums (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=554091)
Fixed in Firefox 2.0.0.12 (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#Firefox)

I get the same when starting Firefox or Winamp. Has started during the last week. Makes start up painfully slow.
BTW
I'm using XP pro on a relatively slow computer (Pentium 4 2.66GHz)

I followed the instructions

Which fixed the Firefox problem for me. Logs not sent as problem is now gone.
The problem with winamp still persists but as I suspect it relates to http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=192950 further discussion should probably continue there.
