Today we are beginning the public beta testing of our newest software, WatchYourIP.

WatchYourIP is an IP monitoring software that can be configured to watch for changes to your Public or Local IP address and send email notifications to as many people as you choose.

Allow for running with Windows Startup and run in the background with system tray iconPlease understand that this is version 0.1 of a public beta release. We are anticipating bugs being found. The website is also in beta status.

We have made every effort to ensure smooth installation and running on Most Windows versions.

To answer a few questions ahead of time:
The IP addresses are obtained via the WinSock layer. Your public IP is gathered from the dyndns.org website and then read by the software.
No personal information is transferred at any time outside of the software.
A full scan of the executable and installer was made on the jotti servers with nothing found. There is no spyware, trojans or other malware packaged with this software. (screenshot available)
For outgoing mail sent by the software, it requires you to input your mail server information the same way you would with your email client.We will closely monitor this thread as well as our support thread. Notifications of updates will be made as they are available.

Release 0.3 of the Public Beta is now available

Updates

· Program now gathers Local/Public IP address on startup

· Test Mail now gathers server information as it is entered, instead of how it is saved

· Test Mail button now ensures data is entered before attempting to send message.

· Email message from Test email now displays correct information gathered from variables

· Installer now checks for existing database before overwriting with new.

· Corrected issue with sending multiple test messages consecutively with server timeouts

Regarding Server Timeout
I spent the weekend with a few different programmers and analysts to determine the cause of the server timeouts. It appears that it is an actual server timeout being reported. We were able to duplicate the message a few times on various systems/networks, but determined that it isn't a code related issue this time. This is by no means saying the code is perfect and the fault lies on their end, but at this time, we are stating that the code functions as advertised.
Please do continue to report of any server timeouts you receive. We have now also included this issue to save to the error log for future analysis.
