Hi everyone,
A colleage says that when he plugs his HD as USB, it works fine for a full backup.
However, he caims that if plugged as SATA, he gets a corrupted file message.
He is under Acronis 10(build unknown at this time).
Thank you!

My first question would be is it plugged as a normal internal SATA or is it in an enclosure such as a Vantec and plugged into an eSATA interface card. However, I would expect Windows to handle that configuration properly if not the TI rescue CD.
Also, if there is too long a cable on the internal SATA connector it could cause problems and the other possibility is that the drive supports 3Gbps and the interface is half that. A jumper on the HD will force a 1.5Gbps connection which might help. I have noticed on some newer SATA 3Gpbs drives that the jumper is no longer present but hopefully they are a bit smarter at knowing when to back off than the older ones.
Another possibility is just a poor SATA cable. This has been a problem with SATA and I experienced 2 bad ones that came with my ASUS motherboard. They appeared to work OK but couldn't stand up to TI's validation procedure. There were also some messages in the XP event logger about parity with the recommendation to change the cable.
