i am in search of net mon for xp or something similar that will tell me what is running thanks. chris

These are the freeware netstat tools(process to port mapper) I know of, which support Windows XP.

DiamondCS OpenPorts v1.0

DiamondCS OpenPorts is a CLI (command line interface/console) tool but highly recommended.

Active Ports

Active Ports has good GUI.

TCPView
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/tcpview.shtml
TCPView also has good GUI.
