has anyone noticed how cheap bitdefender is on there uk website?
£12.95 for av only
£20.49 for internet secuirty
most companys charge like £20 for av only and £50 for the suite.
seems cheap as chips to me.
no need to be without decent protection.

To swing this topic back,
Bitdefender is the most under-rated av on the market, probably more so than drweb.
Apart from bugs on release, and a poor removal, its great.
Now, some people will agree that having poor removal is a definate no-no but avira fans seem to be happy. :)
Bitdefender need to add another few months to their betas, as every release has plenty that people have to wait for fixes for. (they do get fixed, but weeks after release)

ive noticed most companies rush products these days.
the most recent examples are bitdefender, eset and kaspersky.
more beta testing is needed.
bitdefender is a decent av and would reccomend it.

What do you mean with poor removal? It's true that BitDefender most of the times don't remove registry entries but only the executables or the parts that can do harm. Is that what you meant with poor removal?
Thanks in advance for answering.

but dont be too surprised, there are many AVs that are based on prevention, and if something (and most likely) falls through, they cant remove it when the signatures are updated.

OT - lodore - do you live down south, there is a little new estate getting 100mbps broadband from BT, fibre direct to the homes. grrrr <-QUOTE}
prevention is better than letting it through than capturing but prevention systems do seem to fail quite a lot in real time!

In the past the registry entries weren't removed. But that is the case now. I was infected and did a BitDefender scan afterwards I used another online scan that doesn't find anything. Bullguard uses a different version then the BitDefender engine that Softwin (developer of BitDefender products) uses in their BitDefender product line. The 2008 line has better removal.
