Hello,
Since I've reinstalled my Windows XP over a existent copy, all private folder of the old installation under Documents and Settings are now impossible to enter, delete, etc. the problem is that i've some virus samples, and the extrange is that I can't access to the My documents folders, however NOD32 Scanner can access the folder and detect those viruses, but are zip compressed and NOD can't delete it. No other AV can access those folders.
Any idea/help?
Thanks.

From what I remember reading If you reinstall the same version with out removing the old one it can overwrite some files and make them nonaccessible. It doesn't happen every time but it is a known occurance. I don't remember a cure for xp. I don't know about 98 or 98se.since I have not used them in quite a while.

Have you tried to get to the files in safe mode? or possibly just replacing those files off of the cd

Yes, and it's impossible.

If it was on my comp I might be able to find a solution or if I had it in my shop but that kind of problem is kind of hard to diagnose by long distance. You might have to do a complete format and restore to get it straightened out. I hope not. Maybe someone else has had the same problem and can assist you with it. Sorry I could not be of more help. :(

I am kind of wondering if nod might just be detecting some residules left on the disc and those files are actually gone since you can not access them any way that you have tried. ???
