First MATLAB, and now LaTeX.

LaTex seems to be the best option for Mathematics atm.

However, the problem, IME, is the lack of WYSIWYG LaTex editors, as the most people are not way going to spend time learning another language (code). Especially, when e-technology is supposed to free up our time, not drain it.

TeX is almost universally used in physics and math, and is by far the superior alternative. Those who have tried to write long, complicated equations with a what-you-see-is-what-you-get word processor such as m$'s Word will surely understand what I mean...

TeX doesn't have to be hard. In windows one can try distros like proTeXt, which come with almost everything one might need; proTeXt is based on MiKTeX:
