What does that mean?
Since AVG 8.0 won't support Win 9x/ME, will AVG 7.5 be supported for a (relatively) long time?
Thanks :)

Does the firewall on this beta 2 pass the ShieldsUp test at grc.com? I tried it with beta 1 and it failed.

I am curious as to why there is a separate component for rootkit scan, surely its all performed in a system scan.
Also, why is the virus vault not on the main screen?

I've been wondering exactly the same! ;D
Other than that, its running really great here (but almost all software runs great on my comp 8). The http/linkscanner dosent slow down at all compared to many others. I really think theres great potential in this suite when looking af speed, effectives and ease of use :thumb:

Ok. I have asked them. And they're unfortunately unabled to reproduce it and were asking for logfiles from you.
Could you please send them avg8inst.log from c:\documents and settings\%your profile%\Local settings\Temp
Thanks.

Well unfortunately I can't answer this question. (Since I have no idea why)
But you're right, it's a bit strange. I guess this won't change for now but I will give them a thought for a future version. Thanks.

I am looking forward to seeing the final product. Hopefully I can remain as light" on resources as version 7, though that may be tough with all the added features.

This betas interesting.I had to take AVG ISS off my computer when i upgraded from 98se to w2000 pro ,because i was getting high cpu usage when opening anything. This beta so far displays no such behaviour. It looks very nice too ,and shas some nice features like the system tools (which doesnt work for me on 2000 sp4 at present).Although 1.5 ghz cpu is recommended it runs very ligght and speedy on my 733mhz. I think AVG may have a winner here.

I really, really hope that AVG 8 fixes the long standing resident shield issue I have had with every AVG 7.5 version. Because of that isolated bug, I have not been able to use one of my favourite AV products :'(
So far this beta is looking great, with everything I expected making it to the feature list :D

What issue was that with the resident shield?.I never noticed any problems until i updated my OS to 2000.By the way where do you submit bugs too?.I read at the grisoft site to use the avg>help>support by email function to send bug and .dmp file but that feature doesn't work for me.

I gave it a try.
Keyed in my license and expiration shows 1-1-2010, so that works.
Can't get the anti-spam module working, it did but after the first update nada. (for me not an important issue).
52 Mb total working set
Don't notice any slowdowns.

testing it as well.
For now no slow downs. Firewall pop ups are a bit large.

Well, I had an isolated bug with the Resident Shield where the alerts just would not show at all. This is a very isolated bug but I have been able to reproduce it again and again with fresh installations of Windows.
However, I have not noticed such behaviour on any other PC, nor is Grisoft able to reproduce it. Every other AV works without any problems at all on my PC, only AVG is throwing a fit :(
I hope this is fixed for me with version 8.....
BTW: aigle, I have not forgotten about your PM, its just that I have been WAY too busy these days....I will try :)
