Does anyone have any Do's or Don'ts to recommend regarding using DD10 on a new Dell Inspiron 1520:

Inspiron 1520, Intel Pentium Dure Core T2310 (1.46GHz 533Mhz, 1M L2 Cache)
1GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive for I1520
Microsoft Windows XP Home Service Pack 2, English, for Inspiron

I'm assisting a friend, and I have no first hand knowledge of Dell computers. We would like to add a couple of partitions. I am familiar with DD10.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The only thing I'd recommend would be to make a back up image of your system before playing with DD.

If Dell have a utility for making a boot CD if the system dies, I'd make one of those.

Other than that, apart from checking that a DD rescue CD will boot your system in case something goes wrong, XP and Dell shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, Colin for your reply. Will do all of those things. I've got some time before we attempt this, so will continue to seek advice and information.
