View Full Version : Hey, Who's playing with the post count?

beetlejuice
January 14th, 2004, 09:55 PM
I could have sworn yesterday that I had 553 posts. Now I'm down to 526 give or take 1. And now I've got more than Uguel. :o How is that possible? :-\ I don't think I'm seeing things, but I don't know. What do you think Uguel? Does yours look right?
EDIT. OK. I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but this post should have been #526. I had 27 PM's in my inbox. 526+27=553. I deleted all of tham at once and this post automatically changed from #526-#527. Huh???? ??? OK Paul, what's the joke?

No joke sir.

We've just been doing some winter cleaning. Whenever we cleanup old threads/posts or do any similar maintenance, people's posts counts adjust along with it. (I'm down about 100 myself.)

It's kinda like a lottery. And as I'm sure you know, you can't win if you don't play. ;D

Well, I guess it does improve the Karma to posts ratio. ;D HeHeHe. Ha and I bet you thought I was mad didn't you? ;)

Ladies and gents,

Don't put the blame on LWM - it has been me handling the broom stick ;) ducking...

FYI: two forums are cleaned out on a regular basis: the Test Forum and Ten Forward. "Tests"are just that - and don't have any purpose in staying up in general.

As for TF: a vast amount of totally outdated (and sometimes in the meanwhile incorrect) posts as well as countles posts no one ever looked at for months (sometimes over a year) in a row just have been sitting there, abandonned and merely using up precious disk space. No reason in any way to let them gather dust.

For long-time TF regulars, this cleaning house will indeed have affected their numbers of posts - as probably will be the case next round. I myself have lost 200+ posts this time.

That said: in the end it's not the numbers but the quality and fun that counts over on TF 8)

regards.

Hey Beetlejuice!

Well, to tell you the truth, my car didn't start up this morning for the simple reason that the engine is "frozen" (since yesterday). The battery is ok, I can turn on the radio and the lights, but the engine is frozen stiff! :(

But every cloud has a silver lining...The taxi drivers are very glad, they have never had so many clients! :)

This morning we reached -41 where I live and in Sherbrooke, not very far from here, they reached -51 with the wind. :o

The worst thing that happened to me isn't the cold but the illness I had to go through....

No thanks Peaches, but thank you very much for the offer. Even though it's going to get cold here (highs in the +30F range this next week, it wouldn't be right for you to send me some nice weather with what our friends Uguel and snowbound and everyone in a NEasterly direction are going through right now. My weather's good enough. If you can manage it, send it to the NE and Canada. I might even help you pay the postage. WOW. You Canadians have it made. A tax code without interest or penalities.
Here are a few selected excerpts from the US side. I'd show you the whole thing,
but it's just too long. And Paul would kill me if I crashed the server.

United States Infernal Revenue Service
1040 EZ
Time to pay what we know you owe

WARNING: Follow these instructions exactly as written. Failure to do so,
WILL result in your Imprisonment for as long as we wish.

Simple Instructions: Sjiujsdli jmnolij wpoxm c 8e lmndj ljy.wppaw jkje lls77
njmmasklkmxc mjmsdllai mmnpl;w.isd llsjmaw lljsw khgwppsa ;;qm,m,mnh
assouonw.
Did you understand the above instructions:
Yes__ No__
If you answered Yes, continue to the next question.
If you answered No, don't bother to pack, however we will need your
current size for your new prison uniform.

Multiply your 2003 Income of $33,000.00
(yes, we know how much your Income was.)
(For your convienence, ((and our delight)) we have rounded it to the
next highest $1,000.00), by the speed of light squared
(186,000²=186,000x2). Place the total of this amount on line #1.
Line 1. $___________________________________**
** The cents decimal is somewhere way over there---->

Multiply the amount that you thought you managed to keep*,
$10,000.00 by 1,000,000.00. And place this amount on Line #2.
Line #2. $_________________________________**
*This amount was merely a loan from the US Government to you,
just to make it appear that you were self-supporting. Actually, we
own everything that you think you own and there's nothing you can
do about it, so get over it.
** The cents decimal for this line is even further over there-------------->

Add the amounts from Line #2 to the amount on Line #1, and place on Line #3.

Line 3.***_________________________________________
***The cents decimal for this line doesn't matter. We could have supplied a place for
you to put it, but we didn't want the 2003 1040 Form to be the size of a semi-truck.

You will find that the amount on Line #3, will not fit on the screen of a normal calculator.
If it does, it's obvious that you are trying to lie about your Income.
We will need your clothing size again just to make sure, and we hope you
like the basic colors of black and white in stripes.

FAQ's:
How do I pay my taxes if I don't know how much it is since my calculator
won't go that high? ???

Answer: Don't worry about it. We will send a fleet of trucks to collect
our belongings. Just rest assured that you will be indebted to the
United States Government for the rest of your life, and beyond.*
*Yes, we have figured out how to collect taxes from the dead.

Have a nice day. ;D

It's kinda like a lottery. And as I'm sure you know, you can't win if you don't play. ;D

Now could you please see to it that my numbers come up in the Powerball drawing. Thanks a million. I'll share. I really will. I swear. Would I lie too you? ;) ;D
