WMP 11 replacement (audio)

I have Windows Media Player 11 and Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 and a lot of music (mp3) on my pc. I have never used Ashampoo BS6. I dont like WMP 11 I think it is a mess. WMP 10 was ok but I dont want to go back. You should consider me a newbie, I have ripped/burned maybe 5 cd's since I bought my pc. (For video I use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack)

I know there's a lot of good free tools out there, and need some advice.

I want replacement for WMP 11 that is easy to use when you have a lot of mp3 files, no mess but easy to keep track of everything. Easy to work with playlists.

I want to burn cd's to use in my car. I pick one or two tracks from different albums and put them in a burning list. I will soon start a large job to rip all my own music because I want to store it on my pc.

I have heard of different tools like JetAudio, WinAmp, Foobar and many more. Which one do you think would be the best to replace WMP 11? And most important, WHY?

I guess Ashampoo BS6 could do the rip/burn part just fine? Or would it be easier to use an all-in-one solution?

I will be thankful for any advice.

Agree about WMP- an interface mess.

I am using KM Player which does it all but also can be set up just as a simple audio player-free

Edit-not sure if you can burn/rip with it-but in any case strongly recommend Burning Studio,which would in any case do an easier/better job than any all in one.

This is interesting , I was just wondering if there was an wmp alternative(have WMP 11 as well).I figured there was just hadn't researched it. This KM player sounds pretty good. WMP 11 hasn't seemed to be that bad but I may give this a try anyway.

I propose:

-For audio, Jet Audio Basic 6.2.8 (older than the current version, of which i hate the GUI).

Why? Because everything you need is a mouse click away...

-For video, FFdshow + Zoom Player 5.0 Standard.

Why? Because you get the max simplicity and image filtering.

I believe Ashampoo BS has a downside. When you burn an audio cd (mp3) it does not cover info like album and title, so this will not show up in my car stereo display. I believe I read something about it here at Wilders recently.

Is it ok to have 2 or 3 mediaplayers installed at the same time, or will there be a conflict?

It's OK, as long as you don't mess file associations :)
MediaMonkey (http://www.mediamonkey.com/) may be what you're looking for.

Most modern music players support Replay Gain (http://replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org/) (and derivatives like MP3 Gain) natively or through plug-ins/add-ons.

The KM Player has a very friendly playlist.

As long as the original has the album info. etc,aShampoo will certainly carry it over during burning

During the rip process,AS will attempt to get this info over the internet from FreeDB -but of course if its not available ,then it cant be burned.

re MPTrim-MP3Gain looks simpler
