I'm having trouble backing up directly to a DVD. Using Verbatim 16x DVD -R and it stopped during the back up so I have gone direct to an installed local hard disk - not a partition of the boot drive.

That's no good if the boot drive does down though. The whole idea is to be able to access the backup in an emergency and I for one call a boot failure a real emergency;D ....so what if I...
Create a back up to hard drive then burn that to DVD. Because it's already in the backed up state, will that make it that much easier to copy to DVD? And would I then be able to boot from that DVD copy backup?
Thx and Merry Christmas

i have always wondered why people risk their data with dvd's when external hard drives are so cheap these days.
external hard drives are far more reliable.
i have backed up to a seprate partition on a same HD with paragon in the past.

I would use disks only because they are cheap, easy to use and <should> be reliable, plus they are easy to store. Being the paroniod type I should back up to both.
I have spare HD's so will take your advice, not I dont understand about partitioning for this purpose.
I have a spare SATA 120 Gb drive and would use that. Do I need to partition this drive? Can I uset he drive for other purposes, storing data perhaps. The unthinkable - could i partition this drive and use it as a boot drive for two Paragon DB computers?
Thx

Sorry, messed up the wording. Been up all night.
"The unthinkable - could i partition this drive and use it to boot two different computers from Paragon DB imaging?"
