PC flank says my referrers are showing. Any free way to stop? Am in stealth mode with ZA free but that does not block referrers

Which browser are u using?

I use Opera which has an option to disable referrer logging. Firefox i think also has this capability with the use of extensions.

I also recommend that you read this thread.

Question about HTTP referrers (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=1084107)

Read what was said there, too.

Test your referrer here:
http://refspoof.mozdev.org/referrer.php

If you see Wilders Security link from this thread, then you're leaving referrer traces.

I am using the PrefBar extension from XeroBank browser ( www.xerobank.com ) to avoid leaking referrers.

When I verified my website, instead of showing any referrer traces, the link was replaced by (-).

Proxomitron also deals with referrers. It's an option in the HTTP header filter. You can have it report anything you want it to. The default setting is the page you're browsing. It returns their own site.

Proxomitron is a little more complicated to use, but it works with all browsers.

I use K-Meleon with referrers blocked.

I tried Proxomitron a couple of years ago on another computer and liked it - except that I kind of went crazy and began clicking this or that at random, with the result that I couldn't even get online. No, I never read instructions until something goes wrong. Usually, then it's too late because I don't remember what I did to cause the problem. I can say this based on that experience. Proxo works.
