Run System File Checker in XP

Here is a suggestion that might help those who are having trouble with their XP computers. Sometimes Windows files can become corrupted by third party applications. There is a way to fix this. Do this:

1. Put your XP installation disk in your CD drive

2. When it comes up on the screen click: Exit

3. Click Start/Run then type in: sfc /scannow and hit Enter.

This will run the System File Checker and fix any corrupted Windows files. It has made my computer run better a couple times now.

I don't know if this is a Vista thing or not. Maybe some Vista expert can tell us how to do it.

You people who are having so much trouble with ESS and EAV really need to try this at least once. It really works. I've read quite a few posts where people said their problems were fixed with a Windows reinstall. Using System File Checker can sometimes save you from having to do that.

Just a few days ago my computer started acting up. The worst problem was that it kept losing my multimedia keyboard software. I reinstalled the software a couple times. There were other glitches too that i can't remember exactly. I ran SFC and it has been running great ever since.

Except for the "View workgroup computers" issue ESS is running perfectly on my system.
