installing new programs

It is said that firewall and antivirus should be disabled while installing new software. Is disabling real time protection in av and allowing all traffic in firewall enough ?
Will any legit software installed be allowed by the firewall in automatic mode ? ???

In automatic mode, iirc, all outgoing traffic is allowed. It still stealths your ports and blocks inbound though.

BTW, leaving your AV/FW on while installing programs should be fine.
