I have just upgraded to Acronis True Image Home v11 Build 8.053 and it has exceeded my expectations. The installation was via 'over the top' mode as suggested and proved trouble free. Having searched the Manual, Forum and Knowledge Base I am unable to find out if I am doing or not doing something which gives rise to the Exiting issue following the use of Startup Recovery Manager.

The only 'bump in the v11 road' is when Exiting from Startup Recovery Manager from either the F11 Key or Boot Disc mode of use. When needing to close Startup Recovery Manager choosing File > Exit or hitting the Red Cross both produce a 'Dos' screen with too much info displayed for my tired brain to take in. Following the on screen 'help' directions suggest typing in 'exit' which in turn returns to the position prior to typing in 'help'. Ctl-Alt-Del seems to create mayhem and masses of screen output which terminates in words to the effect 'kernel panic'. The workaround being to manually close down the machine. This happens regardless of whether an actual recovery is achieved or simply investigating the process but withdrawing before clicking the final button.

I tried but decided against using Backup for Data because it seemed slow and I already have a system in place for this.

Wish List

I may have missed something but having created a Recovery Image I always want to Validate that Image. Could this me made part of the Creation process, i.e. add a tick box 'Validate after Creating Backup' to the Backup input screens? The two step process I am following is not the most efficient MO.

Try&Decide is brilliant IMHO, could it be made super fantastic by holding on to Try mode through a Re-Boot? I wanted to try an upgrade to my Firewall so in Try mode ran the program set up, on finishing set up the Firewall requested a re-boot to complete the installation. Try mode of course required a decision to keep the untested Firewall or re-boot and return to the pre Firewall set up situation. Otherwise perhaps this should be added to the 'Limitations of Try&Decide'?

Having to set a Schedule for Backups to achieve the Green Traffic Light status is IMHO an irritation. Simply allowing the user to choose to use another method and confirm that choice by means of a tick box would be very nice.
My preference is for using Briefcases for backing up my data, on multiple separate HDD's. Those that remain in my machine are encrypted whilst those that are removed are not. This means that at least two backups can be read and manipulated without any additional software being required. This method has been in use for many years and is fast and efficient.
I get the Green status by allowing a scheduled backup of My Documents which usually has one resident document named 'What are you looking here for?'.

Forgive my old brain but I cannot find a route to delete tib files from the Secure Zone. Nor was I able to locate references to it in the previously mentioned areas. If this is possible please tell me how it can be done, and if it is not possible could it be considered for implementation?

Last but not least, although not in direct reference to the v11 software, is there any chance of splitting this Forum Section into sub sections for the various TI versions. The main Wish List thread is so big it deserves its own section. Perhaps moves in this direction would make searching easier?

A big thank you to the TI Team for this product, from my earlier version it is a massive step forward, well done.

This is the wrong place for Wish List posts. You should put the wishes onthe Wish LIst -- see top of forum. Wishes are kind of wasted in this part of the forum. The Wish List is where the Feature people go to find wishes.

Also note that you can set validation to happen after every backup any disk as the default condition by the setting under Tools, Options, Defualt Backup Options, Additional Seetings. Also you can create a task and set the backup options manually and then set Additional Settings, validate after creating backup -- so that's another way to automatically get validation everytime you backup a particular disk.

Stan The Man,

The only way to proper way to remove tib files from a secure zone is to use the TI tool to remove the zone and then start again. Otherwise the zone is managed by TI on a strict FIFO basis. For this to work properly it should be fed with at least two or more full base images.

The use of the secure zone by the Try and Decide feature is to my mind a false economy. The zone's prime objective has always been to safely store backup images. If one wants to use this feature and Try and Decide keep some free space into which to expand the zone from time to time.

I do not use the Try and Decide feature because the data cannot pass a re-boot and also could mess with my backup images.
So instead I make sure I have an up to date full image of my computer. Then install whatever I like and test for as long as I like. If I want to keep it I can or I can get rid of it completely with no annoying traces by restoring the previous image.
This how I removed TI V11 and went back to TI 10. Happier but poorer!

Many thanks for the pointer to validate by default, you have saved me much time and opened up an area of ATIHv11 I have not investigated. ATIv8 was so unreliable in emergency that its use was an absolute last resort. I never did anything with it but create a few images and attempt to restore on a couple of occasions. I guess Ghost would be a dirty word here but it did help me out when nothing else functioned as expected.

On first use ATIHv11 endeared itself to me running fast and smooth, after only a couple of days I am realising [with your help] it is even better than my first impressions. So bye bye to my old copy of G...., and on with the investigation of the finer points of ATIHv11.

I may edit my Wish List and repost as you advise, but will probably wait a while to get full accustomed to this super new tool.

I feared that deleting the SZ and starting again was the only solution [at present?]. The Images I have created have always been the 'Full' variety
I have used ATIHv11 several times to handle the return to the original installation both after testing the various routes into Recovery and after testing software.
With the departure of G.... my machine's removable HDD is used to hold my Backups of Data [in Briefcases] and System [in the SZ]. Two spare HDD's are maintained in a similar condition each with its own SZ, one being used on Wednesdays and the other on Saturdays to update. Previously with G.... I cloned the OS but recently incompatibilities were going to force an upgrade but the ATI solution is better. With plenty of space available I see no point in creating anything other than Full Image backups.
I have never run TIv10, perhaps the upgrade for you was not significant, moving up from TIv8 there is no going back for me. Try&Decide limitations make it less than completely useful for me, but the reliability of Recovery is such that T&D can be ignored, until such time as it can handle re-booting when required to complete installations and hence trials of some software. The only plus is that it should save a few mouse clicks?
Thank you very much for your input.

Anyone able to help
I messed up on the Title to this thread revised above as 'Acronis TI Home v11 Startup Recovery Manager-Exiting After Recovery Issues', which is the prime purpose of my post. When I managed to get TIv8 to function it did at least exit Startup Recovery Manager gracefully after restoring or attempting to restore an image. Pressing the reset button is no big deal but, given the possible critical nature of the overall process, if the program closed as expected the user may be less stressed at a worrying time.
Any help with this will be much appreciated.

Thanks again for the input so far.
