Internet service providers may be forced into wholesale spying on their customers as part of the White House's strategy for securing cyberspace.

An early draft of the White House's National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace envisions the same kind of mandatory customer data collection and retention by U.S. Internet service providers as was recently enacted in Europe, according to sources who have reviewed portions of the plan.

Here we go again! More freedoms are to be corraled and infringed by law enforcement and government in the name of our "safety and security." What happened to civil rights and freedoms? This sort of thing makes George Orwell's classic book look like a cakewalk! There's also a strong monetary effect here too. How much do you think ISP's will cost if they put this through? spy1, I thought they passed a bill in the US on Internet Privacy? Is it Law yet? Does it count, or do they have fine print for these implementations? Why am I so worried? Canada often copies the USA!
