why is kaspersky blowing kis out everywhere

the prices have been ridiculous on it everywhere.. just for the heck of it i got 2 1year lic for 3pc's each for free.. i may never use them but what the heck right?

just wondering why they are doing this with the program anyone know??

If you had used it for a while you will have noticed they always have had good deals at certain times of the yearlike the one we're approaching fast, so nothing new really.

The 3 pc licenses in certain countries is because thats what the competition does......so you have to follow...........at least to a certain point. :)

Tried to explain this to Avira but they didnt understand, or care. If the apples are ripe, pick them quickly and Kaspersky is doing it.

it pays for them, to have people use their product. for samples to be sent in, for problems to be discovered, and compatibility issues. their forum is a huge asset in improving the product and giving satisfaction to the users. i've posted there a few times and got immediate results. the same goes for their phone support, it's very good. you can't accuse them of slacking.

Normal users seldom give samples to the AV company... they often end up downloading other products and scanning with them and hopefully getting it removed using that or other forums where they are told to remove the potentially infected files rather than to submit it to the AV.

If it gets too many users too quickly, it may be a victim of its own success... support may not be able to handle the influx of users with problems and kaspersky will get a bad name for it.. (bad support or long response times).
Also, more users = more problems/issues being discovered... but how does that help? Easier and cheaper if you have less users, therefore less problems/issues, therfore less unhappy users isnt it? (although less users also means less happy users!)

Office Max had KIS 7 for up to three users for $19.95. If I did not have a couple of boxed copies I would have bought that. Also, when my "Tweaky" keys expire in 2010 there may be another such offer.;D ;D

For example; a 2 year KAV 7.0 licence for 1 PC will cost 12.60 pounds with the aforementioned discounts applied ;D

You can use a site like xe.com to convert UK pounds into your countries currency to find out the "actual" cost to you (as I'm guessing you are not in the UK).

I don't know about a registry edit for ichecker, I know about is the process via command prompt to remove objectID's posted here in various threads. From what I've read & understood, once the command line objectID removal has been completed nothing associated with Kaspersky remains on the PC.

Of course, you'll find a few legacy entires in the registry (as you do with every AV) and these are easily removed.

I ued to be concerned with the effects of iSwift, iChecker & the potential chkdisk issue but after reading up on these things, I'm not anymore.

no i was told there is a way to disable the iswift from doing a reg edit so it does not operate for real time scanning, i know when its installed it can be disabled but only for on demand scans supposedly. i really would prefer to keep avira but for 3pc's for ONE year in us dollars its 89$..

I can understand why you want to stay with Avira, another great product.

I have 6 month trials for their AV & suite; loved AntiVir PE premium! I encountered major downloading issues with the suite, however. My download speeds were cut in half (or worse), despite excluding websites from the Webguard scan. Oh well.

As I wanted a suite with low resource usage, KIS just so happened to fit my requirements & at a bargin price!

The license starts to run from installation OR, as I was told my Kaspersky UK in June, the activation codes have a shelf life of an additional 3 months on top of a one year licence.

However, a recent thread (http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=52949&st=0) over on the KAV Forum suggest that it might now be a lot longer.

I own KIS (Deskstop) and I was thinking of replacing my NOD32 (my notebook) and Bitdefender (wife's notebook) with F-prot... so when the license expire, I will start with F-prot as it allow to install up to 5 pcs per license. But the Kaspersky promo being mention here and internet... it keep me coming back for more...:)
