Interesting looking antivirus but doesn't seem as popular as some of the others available and very difficult to get any comparative data on. Would be interested in any user comments on such things as how good is it at cleaning a virus (its detection looks exceptionally good or is it?), how effective is the web check option, is it easily disabled by a virus and any other comments on its effectiveness.

I just put on 2008 av trial and so far looks good with no noticeable slowdown. I disabled startup scan and network scan and it's playing nice. I'll let you know more later.

Hi Paul, check out this thread (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=192199) and others first, if you are interested on try it (imo, v.2008 is way better than previous versions in terms of performance and system resources usage). I'm using GDAV from about 18 months back and i must say it's a very powerful av (sometimes too much i'd say), i really doubt it can be easily unloaded by any malware. In my experience, its 'webscan' feature is unsurpassed when it comes to performance and effectiveness (better than kaspersky's web-av, imo). Can't tell about its cleaning abilities since i've never been infected.

G-Data is too much of a resource hog, I tried a trial & it lag my computer to the max. Wish it was more resource friendly, Too bad.:'(
