Not trying to start a vs war. Just a statement that a lot of the suites seems broke, Norton is shutting down?, Nod32 seems to have a lot of issues & kaspersky has the chk dsk issue, you see I have all three & frustrated that while , yes I like to tinker with them, I don't have a clear choice default. Has the industry gotten to the point that they try to do so much they lose out on getting it to work properly and IMHO there is no amount of testing since there are so many different system setups...sorry just frustrated...

i wanna add something to that..i prolly after a few time could use such os...but my sister..or my mother?..for them making a such os "teach" that "thing" how to learn to play mp3 music is as distant as reverse engineering..

Not surprised someone would pop up and say linux. Gee I could put linux on my boxes and not have to worry. Of course the computers would be useless to me, but hey they'd be safe.

but it's not right to charge for what ends up as test wear. Even in 30 days you may not see the error because of the depth of the program & how to look into it. I don't know if the solution is say a 2 year license or to release versions furthere apart. IMO I agree with Blue it rush to get it to market. But the irony of it is kaspersky releases v7 than goes to v8???!!, I mean that's insane? why not perfect it?, emblish it with patches? if it works keep it. In kaspersky's case yes the chkdsk issue maybe at play here but some other AV's suite don't need new version every year especailly if it mean problems for the user. There's no winner here the user get's an exposed system & the vender get's a black eye for putting out bad software...

either way they don't work as advertised but they knew how to take my money fast enough...I'm surprised by Kaspersky's lack of admission that anything is wrong & Eset because the program just isn't finished by a long shot, Norton well I expected better but Norton is well Norton as they say...

Avira has done well, not perfect, putting together a Vista suite. "Vista" is the main headache for just about all these vendors. If XP was all there was, a lot of these issues would not be spoke about.

Its got all the same bugs on xp, probably the most buggy out of them all, so many bugs and im surprised that none have ever been fixed

What's even more crazy is I've heard quite a few ppl say they have loads of problems but still continue to use, crazy!

The whole point of trials is to try them and find no problems, it just shows they mean nothing as long as they have bragging rights on percentages

Chris, I actually use what you see, just like you. I do have a laptop that I try stuff out on but the Suite and Sandboxie are my staples. And I did say the suite wasnt perfect. But it is fairly stable and good detection. I mean there isnt a perfect answer and people here need to quit looking for one. Find what pleases you, like you did and enjoy it. The reality is you are going to be sage with just about anything you choose.

I have to agree with the OP. There is a lot of buggy security software out there to go with all the buggy application software. Everything is getting so complex that conflicts abound. I have had problems with all sorts of stuff. The more security software you add, the worse it gets. Maybe I need a Mac.

I was just observing the other day that most of the "good" software I used to like a year or so ago has "evolved" into complete junk now. It also really does seem like most software eventually develops itself into an over-featured, bug ridden piece of junk eventually. It's amazing, and a little depressing sometimes to watch.

True, there are other alternatives like Macs or Linux, but those are not necessarily bug free either.. It seems to be a generic thing that happens across the board everywhere in software development...

I suspect it's marketing that drives it mostly... too bad we can't see a nice piece of software perfected and then just left alone for the most part...

yea, I agree Kerodo. Sales are winning over the science of design. :( Nearly everyone knows my position on Suites by now, but it seems to be the way. :ouch:

My Linux PCs do all my Windows PC does except for some stuff like porn with webcam ;)
