Installed v3 yesterday, just ran the installer while v2 was running and without shutting down anything . Installed cleanly with none of the problems other people seem to have. XP, SP2, patched with this month's bug corrections just before the installation.

Just one question (so far ;)) : where are the radio buttons that allow me to choose to be notified of signature updates before I download them?

There is no such radio buttons in v3

So it now has the characteristics of malware: making changes to your system unannounced.

Not a desirable 'feature', IMO.

Why would you want notified about updated definitions?

Because I choose when to update. I want to be notified every hour (or whenever I choose to be notified) and then I want to choose when (if) to apply the update.

Do you let Micro$oft apply their patches when they choose to?

Now, I trust Eset more than any other company out there but I like to be in control. Why take away a perfectly good option that's worked for at least six years to my knowledge.

If it was any other company we wouldn't be having this conversation - I'd have uninstalled NOD by now. :)

I understand choosing Microshaft updates as some of them are seriously bad! However an anti virus update means you are covered by the latest definitions from install, if you wait then you aren't covered.

I do understand you may want the choice but I'm not sure if it would ever be in your best interests not to have the latest update immediately.:)

With respect, Jake, that's my decision.:)

Why the inconsistancy? I've still got the choice when to do code updates.

Fair do's, just don't understand the rational behind it.:)

You can disable the automatic update task and click the Update link 3-4 times a day if you want to have everything under the control. Still, it will have no effect on the update, you'll download it one way or another with no difference.
