I want to take advantage of all the free trials floating around & test some 'other' security programs. I glanced over a couple of threads very sparsely and came away with the idea that Your Unistaller was a good product for the 'dirty deed' coupled with the claim that NoD 32 never grumbles on exit.

So I plunged ahead with NoD's temporary decommissioning. But now I find Ol' Red Eye (kernel) lurking in the Processes Task Manager and he just got caught trying to tippy-toe out through his old port to pick up an update.

How do I coax him out?

Well it's done. Assistance has been given and he's gone. Sad really. I know it's only for a short spell but I already miss that Ol' red eye glaring at me from the monitor when some germ is caught lurking around. I think I feel some sense of guilt in his departure. :(
