Hey

I am on xphome as administrator, but when I want to uninstall 551 to install 563 I get an error about a file epfwlog.dat (the whole logfile folder data seems to be affected) being used by another app - dunno which - and uninstall cannot procede. I need to start in secure mode, uninstall eset, clean up and only than I can uninstall and install.

Whats going on??

You can try running the installer of the new version , not use the current settings and try to repair or uninstall .

If this doesn't help , boot in Safe Mode , goto Control Panel-> Administrative Tools->Services .

Navigate to the ESET service , right click it -> Properties . Choose the service to be made manual.

Reboot the machine.

On reboot , ekrn.exe won't be started . The GUI would appear hung-up . Start the Task Manager and kill egui.exe

The attemp uninstallation of the current version of ESS

ok, sounds good too - but any idea why? Version 563 will not uninstall either. Never had this problem with rc1 or before.

So wierd

I would hope that I find someone saying - same here, that would make me relax a bit cause it meant that eset has to do something, but haven't seen any complaints so far

If you still have the 551 installer you could try doing a repair with that. Then try to install over it with 563. It sounds to me like something is corrupted in the ESET folders or maybe the registry.

This is the way shared file access work in Windows.

T get rid of that message you could try:
File Unlocker (http://www.diamondcs.com.au/freeutilities/fileunlocker.php) (DiamondCS) - Although i haven't used it personally.

or Unlocker (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Unlocker/1115825635/1) Betanews - Keyser Soze

Once you unlock the file...
