ekrn.exe downloading/proxying constantly

After upgrading to v.3 and finishing a virus definition update, BWmeter was showing constant downloading @1KB to 55KB/s, so I got Tcpview.exe from Microsofts website to see what could be the culprit. Lowe and behold it was ekrn.exe going crazy. Me thinks this is not good for NOD32, as I cannot waste bandwidth like this. I set the scheduler to run the update once a week on Saturdays. I have no idea what it could be downloading. any ideas on what the program is doing?

Ekrn.exe has 10-15 established connection open all the time. What's happening? I'd understand if checks updates once an hour, but all the time!

anywhoo, i'm back to v2.7. the constant downloading has stopped since i switched back. go figure. :(
