Is it just my desktop (1.5 MB DSL) or are there so many users Downloading that it appears it will take 20 min + (8-10KB/sec) to Download the 15 MB AV-Only. Be prepared to wait if it's not just me.

Cheers :)

My compliments. I liked RC1 and I like the final even better!

works like a charm, but i noticed it takes up more resources than NOD32 v2.7.

v2.7 took about 23mb for the kernel, v3 takes about 32-34mb, the gui took about 4mb now its takes about 11-14mb

How does the final differ from RC1?

NOD32 v2.7 takes 24 Mbs of RAM for the kernel and 1 for the UI.
EA v3 takes about 28 Mbs of RAM for the kernel and 1-2 for the UI (so I don't find it too much)

ESS v3 takes me about 30 Mbs for the kernel and 1-2 for the UI

It's been so long since I did an upgrade at Eset, I forgot the procedure. Will someone please refresh my memory and tell me? Do I uninstall ver.2.7 first or can I install over the top of 2.7? Do I simply go to the download page? When you get to be my age your memory is the first thing to go. Thanks;D

Visit www.eset.com -> Download section -> Registed software
Download the new version of Eset Antivirus , install it on the top of the current . Reboot .

After reboot it will update and you are ready to be even more protected ;D :thumb:

I rechecked and the GUI does take about 1.5mb but my kernel still takes up around 36mb?

Hmmm seems i can download NOD32 v3 but i want to download the ESS what's the go can we not download the Security Suite unless we buy a new license that is kinda lame...

Will be contacting NOD32 Australia and finding out what the go is..

This is what the email said so either they are lying or not fixed the problems with downloads...

-{ Quote: "Naturally, upgrade to EAV v3.0 will be free ... but what about ESS ? You're probably
using a firewall and anti-spam software alongside NOD32 already, and they may be
doing a good job ... but we're giving you the opportunity to find out for yourself that
ESS can do it better, and it won't cost you a cent!

Keeping our clients on the cutting edge of security has always been more important to
us than making a few extra dollars out of a new product release, so until 31 December
2007 we're inviting Australian NOD32 users to upgrade to ESS for the remaining period
of their license at zero cost ... absolutely free ... no strings attached!" }-

Note: The upgrade is not automatic and requires generation of a new licence for ESS and this will only be done for those that have requested.

Cheers :)

I got this in a reply from Eset last night in Aus

-{ Quote: "Installations over existing v2.7 during testing have worked OK. It's your choice ... but we highly recommend uninstalling the previous version of any program when upgrading.

At the moment there is no free upgrade path to ESS, but trial versions are available for download on our website.

No cost upgrades to ESS should be available sometime within the next couple of weeks. ::) This free upgrade is an "ESET Australia only" deal, and unfortunately ESET Head Office hasn't provided us with the upgrade path yet. We're copping a fair bit of flak over this delay in various security forums, including http://www.dslreports.com/forum/security and our own Official Support Forum on http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=15. It's not our fault, but it's still not good for our reputation. :( " }-

I am using trail :)

Sorry if here is not the right thread, but I have a question.
Do you have any idea how can I permanently disable the network traffic filtering? :)

Thats not Entirely correct  I myself have a licence for NOD32 Antivirus, purchased in Australia, and I can install ESET Smart Security with my existing licence which is still valid till late Aug 08 :shifty:

Is there anywhere cheaper to buy this, other than on the ESET website? Any OEM versions available?

I did enough homework before buying ESS. Good review comments for NOD32 and its comparative analysis made me believe that ESS should also be respectably fast (if not equally ;) ). My belief was shattered when I triggered ESS on my system (after spending long-long-long installation time) :-[ . My system does not move after ESS is set to real-time watch mode  . I had to painfully waste my time to shut the real-time stuff off :thumbd: . In non-real time mode ESS is simply great :thumb: . Ironically, I avoided buying the most competent securtiy stuff in the market due to the same 'slow-down' reasons ;D . I ended-up buying another one :P Hope ESET has some plans for a better future of their customers

I hope that too, because my license is getting smaller in days, day after day. With another suite on my system because ESS is not good and slow.

-{ Quote: "...when I triggered ESS on my system...
...My system does not move after ESS is set to real-time watch mode..." }-You said it yourself: "on my system". There are plenty systems were ESS is running without any problems, mine included.
Did you try to solve your problem first on 'your system'? Did you uninstall all other security software (uninstall, not just disable!) before installing ESS?

-{ Quote: "Hope ESET has some plans for a better future of their customers" }-If you want Eset to solve the problem with 'your system' you need to provide Eset with more information then you did in your post. Only then they can work on you future...

I think this will be a winner when the bugs gets worked out of this.I would give this a run but I'll wait till my KIS expires. All it takes is patience because i've dealt with buggy software before.Hang in there!!!:thumb:

The Eset Smart Security newest version i think 3. 0 566. is not the best
yest. It catches to less trojans. Try therefore Bitdefender or Kaspersky
or some other AV. and it will find many trojans.

So it is as leak it is not safe. Eset has to do something about it.
I switched to Bitdefender Total Security till Eset fixes this, if they can..

Seems they have problems at ESet.

Let me know any improvements.

Thanks,

Really??

Because I've been trying all bloody day now to get this upgrade to work and it doesn't! It wont accept my username and password that I got for my EAV (valid till May 2009). So Im still not able to download ESS with my user details for EAV.

What the heck is going on? It's almost the end of December, the time that this Aussie deal is going to end :(

Please help!!! :'(
