Hi,
Managed to get hold of the 3.0.551 release, it is very very buggy.
Outlook Express now wont launch from Quicklaunch, i hear a "ping" and nothing happens, you have to launch it twice. This is pretty bad really and should of been noticed, it took me 3 minutes to spot it after installing. Its actually worse than the lag issue in the RC1 release. !!
Overall i am really disappointed, i am going back to Version 2.7 which works great.
I know it might not be final - final.... so i guess im part to blame for being over eager.
Cheers. :)

That's music to my ears ;)

It should sell like hot cakes!

Excuse the mixed metaphors.

ive tried ess final trial and nod av final trial and i dont have an issue with outlook express, are you sure you installed it correctly ? what troubleshooting did you try ? oh and i doubt there will be much difference between the final trials on the eset download server and whatever people download on monday. I doubt the developers work weekend which leaves very little time to perform a new build and upload it by the end of today.

Yes i did install it correctly, i even tried it again on a clean XP Pro O.S with no previous NOD32 installations, as soon as the Outlook Express splash screen appears , it shuts off completely and instantly and i have to launch it again. all i hear is a "ping" and its gone. If i turn off integration into O.E its fine. ???

By the way......... RC1 didnt do this.. (RC1 just made O.E very laggy)
I will stick with my 2.7 for the time being, give it a few months .

Hmmm odd indeed. Perhaps try a reinstall ? ive tried the final eval on 3 machines now and outlook express/microsoft outlook work fine. The only bug i did have in RC was the email tagging bug which has been fixed in the final.

perhaps try doing a disk defrag/disk check
empty all temp files (start > run > %temp%)
delete all eset folders in program files and in documents and settings
install and test with default settings

I must admit 2.7 was a pain for me. Every time i ran an on demand scan, then quit the on demad scan the nod32.exe would remain resident in task amanger. After about 20 scans i would have 20 nod32.exe resident in task manager. When i came to shut the laptop down it took 2 mins trying to clear 20 instances of nod32.exe so i could shut down. Yet funnily if i created a new profile the program worked fine. Computers can be funny like that.

You say you tried clean xp pro, what other software you installing ? did you run all windows updates etc etc. It could be a number of things causing outlook to crash. Perhaps try the old winsock fix as well ?

The crash is definitely caused by NOD32 3.511, no other version does this and there is never any problems without it . Everything on my PC is cleaned daily, i dont use reg cleaners, i prefer to make weekly ghost images.
I do know that the cause is not anything else as it never happened before the time i installed this version. The integration in O.E is very poor anyway and i told them that in previous bug reports.
My O.S i am using now is just days old, 2.7 works fine, RC1 works fine...... This one does not work well at all.

I have to say that i am a registered user and have had a subscription for 3 years now, this is the first issue i have ever had with NOD32.
Fixed by monday 5th ??? I doubt it !!!!

Then return back version 3.0.414 (the RC1) . Download from:
http://www.eset.eu/download/beta

You can still use the RC1 till 31 November this year

I have been able to now recreate this on outlook express in ESS. Its not obvious what the problem is but i believe its something to do with the new antispam module. If i disable the antispam module in the ESS control panel outlook express runs without a problem. If i then re-enable antispam module OE works ok. However upon reboot OE opens then closes straight away and you have to repeat the disable > reenable of the antispam module.

In the new version I don't like the fact they have changed the system tray icon . I adore the one that is in the RC1

Same thing here and it is very annoying having to launch Outlook Express twice to get it to launch. That "ping" sound that you hear is the Windows "Exclamation" sound which Windows has designated as our problem sound. You can hear a sample of that sound if you open up your "Sounds and Audio Devices" control panel in Windows XP then click on the "Sounds" tab then scroll down to "Exclamation".

And did you notice the lag that happens when you close Outlook Express. I will be reverting back to 2.7 if these bugs are not fixed - especially the need to launch Outlook Express twice.

ADMINS: ANY WAY THAT YOU COULD MERGE THESE TWO THREADS OR CLOSEOUT THIS ONE AND GUIDE US TO THE OTHER?

There are two threads running on this topic, the one you are in now and this one: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=190213

I tried 3.0 as well, it crashes my outlook express as well. I can get it open, but when I close it, it hangs for a minute then crashes. I did not try disabling spam module, I just reinstalled version 2.7. May try again in a few months once more of these bugs are worked out.

Hi Supersnake,
Yeh the lag is awful, i reported that as well ..back when testing RC1, but little has changed . 2.7 is seamless in comparison and i like the fact its invisible apart from its downloading attachment scanner. I dont know what the idea was really , but it wasnt a good one thats for sure.

Since NOD32 V3 has been officially released at this point, let's post in the newer thread.
