spyware blaster updates

After doing a spyware blaster update, is it necessary to click on the "protect against checked items"?
(I have already selected all and clicked protect BEFORE the update, of course)

With every new update comes an additional set of spyware items that you must select and "protect against" in order to be safe. The new items are not protected until you select them and tell SpywareBlaster to protect them. So, always follow the procedure in this diagram whenever you download a new update (probably once every week or so):
