Help, I accidentally restored a 22G image to a 232G drive, this drive has important information on it. My question is this, when you restore a smaller image to a larger drive, does it wipe the rest of the drive or does it just restore the data it has and just makes the partition the size the larger size?
Is there any hope of getting any of the old data off the drive? If so does anyone have a suggestion for a good program to do this?

Hi Bernr.
Don't worry, nearly all the data is there.
It is good to mount the problem disk as a secondary drive.
Here is 3 links out of many.

R-Studio Data Recovery (http://www.r-tt.com/)

RecoverMyFiles (http://www.recovermyfiles.com/)

TopTenReviews (http://data-recovery-software-review.toptenreviews.com/)

Good Luck.

Don't compound your problems by adding new files to the disk which needs recovery.

The links below are partition recovery items. I'm not sure their relevance but may be applicable.

Bernr,
You do not tell what you have done?
Which recovery product did you install?
Which operating system, file system do you use?
I have had good experience with both R-Studio and RecoverMyFiles, so that is why I did mention them.
I am sure many can help you here, if you give us more information.
Do not hesitate to ask questions, if you do not know how it should be done.
Good luck.
