Regcleaner has been very handy for me over the years. A few months ago i tried out eusing's free registry cleaner with good results so thats what i use at the moment.

I still don't have a registry cleaner, that meets my wishes.
So I don't use one. My boot-to-restore keeps my registry clean.

A reliable registry cleaner - and freeware - from "Marcos Velasco Security" is MV RegClean released recently to version 5.0.

This application is a trusty Registry Cleaner. With a friendly user interface, can be used through command line, this will allow to use MV RegClean through a batch file or scheduling a task. When MV RegClean is ran through command line, it does all the cleaning without user interference, with the security backup.

I use it and never had annoyances with it performance. Very good.

A piece of advice FWIW: Let your registry cleaner find the candidates
for deletion, but never delete any entry unless you, yourself, know
it's safe to do so. If you have the least bit of doubt about an
entry, then leave it alone. Any good registry cleaner will have a
back-up to restore option, be sure it's turned on before you delete.

IMO, auto registry cleaners should be used only as a last resort before repairing or reinstalling Windows. I have never read/seen any truly objective info on auto registry cleaners for Win 2K, Xp or Vista that shows they help. Microsoft used to make one but they withdrew their Win 98 era cleaner years ago.

I do keep a couple of cleaners in my toolbox but they are tools of desperation...

One needed registry entry missing is always worse,but too many unneeded registry leftovers can have the same impact,just as the Chinese from old like to say : "Just enough is enough ".

Hi, folks: A bit OP, but warrants a clear correction. There is no such thing as very old simplified Chinese, it only can go back to 50's or perhaps 60's, just ask your History teacher at grade school. Yes, Old Chinese(tranditional) can be traced back to prior Christ era. But no comments to Erik's quo.

The only safe registry cleaner is regedit and it's manul "search" option. No automatic tool can safely clean you registry!

For me the best and true registry cleaners are the imaging tools. :P

I have tried RegCure and Registry Easy, Regcure has a more user friendly interface, registry cleaner has more advanced features

I mostly agree with jv16 PT, but I'm sticking with the 2006 for a while yet. Still one heck of a lot of bugs in the 2007, if you take a look at their forums (http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/index.php).

I can get a lot of leftovers in the registry all at once, I also use CCleaner and Tunup.

I've been going back-n-forth b'tween 2006 & 2007. Initially I had lots of issues w/ 2007, but they seem to have worked themselves out. Since I switched to the last updated ver.416 I haven't had any problems w/ the registry cleaner.But I agree, 2007 has a way to go before it can compare / beat-out 2006.

Hi, folks: Recently, I have added this one onto my favorite reg cleaner list:
TweakNow RegCleaner Professional. Others are: TuneUp Utilities, and GlaryUtilities. I am using them daily, and have not caused any sort of problems just yet. Take care.

Hi,

I have been using the paid registry cleaners jv16 and Ace utilities for a few years now.
The new version of jv16 has some problems, it stays one of my favorites.
Ace utilities is very fast in finding invalid items.

As an extra I use the freeware cleaners: Eusing free registry cleaner and wise registry cleaner. Both very good.
