Hello,
Apart from ClamWin, are there any other candidates?
I know avast has a version for U3 drives, but what about normal drives?
Do you know if avast, antivir or avg or any other for that matter, can be configured to run off the usb drive - away from the native computer, ie full portability?

Hello,
Avast is for U3 drives only, it seems. Unless you know otherwise.
If so, a link or a howto would be nice.

Hello,
Thanks, but I was thinking more along the line of full-fledged apps.
I know stinger, avast cleaner, AVG vcleaner and others can run, but that's a different story...
Cheers,

How about Virus Chaser USB? It is the only fully fledged product I know about today for USB drives....:-\

Unlike the desktop version, Virus Chaser USB actually uses the Dr.Web engine fully and has the option to enable heuristic analysis.

Must admit I don't know anything about this one

It can be set to update itself and there seems to be a forum if you look at the top of the page.

I always use the following full command line scanners on USB or CD:

McAfee Command Line Scanner (full scan engine plus Beta DAT files)

Trend Micro Sysclean

I've stuck a copy of my NOD onto my U3. You only get on demand scanning though.

http://www.mojopac.com

It is a virtual windows system that uses host system resources availlable. Install regularly like you would any system.

Its free for personal use. Reccommended atleast 2gb usb drive. So its basically windows on a usb, not sure if its what your looking for.

It does not require any windows installations like regular virtualization software, uses the host pc windows files but still completely separate and private.
