I recently purchased TI 10 in the retail box and it does not see any of my CD/DVD drives on 3 different machines! Guess what? My OLD version 7 does. I run Linux so I b/u from bootable media - period! Now, I have always been a firm believer in not trying to b/u to CD or DVD but I had a special situation come up where I was left with NO other choice. So, what gives with 10 on bootable media and CD/DVD drives? Now, for those of you who are reading this you are probably asking why didn't I just go ahead and use 7 to take the images. Here's the answer; one of my boxes has SATA hd's and 7 doesn't recognize them. Just seems like there is always something TI doesn't recognize! Wish I would have kept my money in my pocket. Bought Disk Director Suite too cuz I needed to part my SATA's. What a dissapointment after being a LOYAL Acronis user going on 4 years now!

If you have a copy of Windows XP, you could make a BartPE CD with the TI plug-in as an alternate boot disk.

If you use BartPE, you'll have to boot from a USB device or have two internal CD/DVD drives since you can't remove the BartPE CD to use the drive for restoring or burning.

Hello mike_wells,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
Please make sure you use the latest build (4942) (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/) of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home. To get access to updates you should first register (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/registration/) your software. Don't forget to recreate Acronis Bootable Rescue Media after updating.
If updating doesn't solve the problem, please try booting with "acpi=off noapic" parameter as it is described in Acronis Help Post (http://wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317).
If the issue persists, please collect some information to let us investigate it thoroughly:
Please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post (http://wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317).
Please also collect the exact vendor and device names of the CD/DVD drives in question.
Then submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/). Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution.
Thank you.
