I want to install a second clean copy of XP onto my system (for games), ideally on a second HDD which currently has Vista on it. I'm wondering the best way of doing this - I have FD-ISR installed but I think that will only allow me to install XP to my current C:\ drive as a new image? I've also been looking at Acronis Disk Director Suite 10's OS selector. Any thoughts on this?

Yes fd-isr will install the second copy on the same c: drive.
You can install multiple copies of windows the normal way, however you have to install the oldest version first i believe. So you'd have to wipe vista, install xp then reinstall vista.

I've never used disk director so i can't comment however installing it in an empty snapshot is the easiest, safest way imo. Thats what i did when i was in a similar situation to yours.

I'm trying a new method :
1. I image and remove my actual system partition.
2. I reinstall my harddisk until I have an image I can use for my both snapshots.
3. Then I install all my off-line snapshot softwares and create a new image.
4. Then I install all my on-line snapshot softwares and create a new image.

5. Then I restore my off-line image, install FDISR and create an off-line archive.
6. Then I restore my on-line image, install FDISR and create an on-line archive

7. Then I restore an image with Windows and FDISR only
8. Then I restore my off-line archive in the primary snapshot
9. Then I restore my on-line archive in the secondary snapshot.

It sounds complicated, but it isn't. I just like to have a number of images with another start point for further installations and I can create a FDISR-archive of each image.
I'm not finished yet, but it has to work in theory and I'm almost 100% sure it will.
