norton 2005 license?

hello,
my friend is getting a a cheap new desktop but needs some secuirty software.
i cant find it right now but i know ive got two licenses for old versions of norton from my sisters laptop. its for eiether the 2005 or 2006 version.
will eiether of those licenses upgrade to the 2007 or 2008 version of norton?
this will save my friend from having to buy another license if he can use my unused license.
