Hi All,
I just bought a Dell Inspiron 531, I want to use Acronis TI 10.4942 to back it up to an external USB drive, I read post after post, the software works with one PC, it doesn't work with another PC, does anyone know does the software support my Dell? I'm wary the software works for certain PC configurations or certain Chipsets, it doesn't work for others. Would Norton Ghost be a better choice, I'd like to hear evidence on both sides, so I can decide.
Thanks,
Steve

They mean you can't put a backup from one to ANOTHER computer-possible if you clone it ; not sure though. There's some trouble with Vista though from what I read. I have XP on my Dell & Acronis works like a champ.............thank God!

Probably the only real test is to download and install the trial version of TI 10. It will allow you to make a backup from Windows and to create a Recovery CD. You can't create a backup from the trial recovery CD, but you can validate the image you made in Windows.
As long as all your drives are visible from the recovery CD and the backup validates, then your system is supported.
If you have questions, bring them here for help or clarification.
Uninstall the trial version, buy the full version and install it and start backing up.
