This may be the wrong place to post this but I just wanted the most exposure. I just spent three hours trying to find out what cleared the settings in my computer for connection to my router. I finally called linksys support and told them what happened, and the first question they asked me was if I was running norton antivirus. I hate to admit it but I was giving it a try again.I broke the disc and threw it away this time. The people at support said they log at least ten calls a day pertaining to norton causing some sort of problem with a network. they said it is a little worse on wireless than direct connect. Well enough norton bashing. Well maybe it is not bashing when it is true. I just posted this in hopes it might help someone else avoid this problem.

Can you provide any more specifics? Such as which settings were lost and from which configuration / applet? Were they just cleared (blanked) or were they changed to something else. Might this have been done when you first installed it or perhaps when you ran the first update?
The more information the better so that the warning you've posted here can be of greater use to others.
Oh, did the reps describe what other types of problems were encountered by people?

I t cleared all the settings in the setup page and cleared the dns settings from the status page on my linksys befw11s4 wireless router. I had updated norton two days ago, sorry I cant tell you the date of the dat file release as I have deleted all symantec info. It had been working just perfectley until I shut down the comp and went to the store. When I got back I turned the comp on and it was not connected so I knew something was wrong because I don't have to manually connect.the bad part was It would not let me in to the router program until I replaced the device ip. Thank goodness I wrote it down. The support person did not go into to much detail of the other problems it was causing due to the fact that they were working overtime trying to help people get their christmas network gifts working. The problem I had seems to be the most prevelant problem they are experiencing with norton av.

I need to clarify one thing.I said it cleared all the settings from the setup page. That is not completely true, It did not clear the security wep codes. I doubt if it could since they are encripted. but it did clear everything else. one last thought the support person did mention something about nortons proxy e-mail checker as one known problem.
