Is it safe to log into paypal and enter credit card numbers while connected through tor, or should I just directly connect when it comes to sensitive transactions? How exactly should I treat tor? Is it a set and forget function which I can have enabled at all times, or should I be cautious about logins?

About the privoxy program bundled. Does the log autoclear itself before it becomes gigabytes library like peer guardian's history db file?

I am not a child pornographer so I might not have the expertise you are looking for. I think that the information you send through tor and other anonymization services is encrypted.

Oh that is so old, child porn, how about warez, mafia, or even terroists, sure only these people would want to use such anonymization.

If the site your visiting is encrypted, then you can use Tor for login as long as the digital certificate is legitimate, in this sense it is as safe as a direct connection. But if someone can hack SSL certificate, then I wouldn't worry about it as I dont have anything of such value and all Internet commerce would be in jeopardy. Tor is more to keep your nosy neighbor or isp from snooping on you. I wouldnt call it strong anonymity as the program itself warns.
