I have the same issue. I tried using my eset username and password but it didn't fix it. I tried a repair installation with a new copy and that didn't work either. then on one restart my computer locked up on startup and when I did a reset it went into check disk mode and had to delete an index. My system has an occasional startup issue anyway. It'll probably be time for another Windows reinstallation soon. My computer is working again but ESS is still saying I have only 6 days left. Oh well that's the price for being a beta tester. I hope we get this fixed soon and I hope it's actually working. I'm using XP x64 edition SP2

Does this mean that ESET aims to go to final release version in the very near future? Or does it merely mean everyone gets one week of testing? Can one of the moderators chime in?

Yes, even if a new or release version will be out soon, having the icon turn yellow and the program announce our protection "is not assured" is most unassuring and not very good for business, even if folks are beta testing. CHUCK

I think it's a bug. Beta2 has only been out for 2 days. They have to fix it soon because some folks will be left without protection if it dies in 6 days.

Same here, it runs out in 6 days, but I wouldn't worry they did this in previous beta release right before a newer beta version came out. You just had to install the newer beta version and you were back in business. I'm sure it will be sorted out soon. ESS is still protecting you fine in the mean time.

They solved the problem last time and they'll solve it again - quicker this time I hope. If not, then I'll go back to 1b.

It's only a notification that the beta will not work in 6 days. We will fix it shortly to avoid confusion.

In ESS go to update and then update virus signature database. Then reboot.

maybe they fixed ESS first and are working on the AV next. Give it a little time and try again.

The update works fine. Click on 'Update virus signature database', you get a brief 'Program Update' but the Virus database remains unchanged. Then re-boot to get the green taskbar icon back...

I'll try.... but I have bunch of stuff installed and my boot time is > 2-3min. :)
I think that this ought to work on 1st attempt.... I'm slightly disappointed by this, but I'll never less buy this as soon as this get out on market. Overall good job by ESET, just MUST make sure that those things don't happen in final ver. ;D

I never had the 6-days error, but I think this is rather strange:
I never got any question about updating the program.
See attachments.

The program has never updated to a newer version, only patches to existing modules were installed like you have never been prompted to update advanced heuristics, archive module and some other internal modules. These have never been considered a program update.

Thanks for you reply, Marcos. I think the definition of "program components" in the ESS Advanced setup doesn't corresponds very well with you explanation here. Either add something like "New versions only" in the setup or (much better) change the program to warn also by this kind of updates and every other change to the program(components) if the corresponding option is selected. Patching existing modules makes the program a different version in my opinion.
