Hi,

I just wanted to backup my system by using the recovery cd, because the installed version never works and the support always wants data but does not propse any solution.
But this time even the recovery version won't work. It didn't recognize my hd, only my usb stick. That's why I rebooted the machine but then the horror began: BIOS does not recognize my s-ata harddisk. Before BIOS said: PM-500-Samsung... the name of the s-ata disk, but now it just says: "harddisk" in the boot settings.
But when I choose this one, the PC won't start. It says wrong boot device etc.

Well, I'm so unsatisfied with this software, I can't even tell.

Something is going wrong with your system. Most likely the problem is with the Samsung SATA hard drive. It may have failed.

If Samsung provided a diagnostic disk with the drive, or if you can download a diagnostic boot disk from the Samsung web site, that's what you need. Western Digital and Seagate have such downloads, but I haven't checked the Samsung site. The manufacturer's diagnostic will tell you whether the drive has failed completely or can be repaired.

I agree completly with jmk94903. This problem will have nothing to do with Acronis. I would recommend reconnecting the SATA cables. Sometimes then can get loose. If that doesn't work than I would also say it sounds like a dead drive.
