Purple Pill leaves bitter taste (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/08/10/ati_driver_snafu/) - ATI driver flaw exposes Vista kernel
{QUOTE-> An unpatched flaw in drivers from ATI creates a means to smuggle malware past improved security defences in the latest version of Windows and into the Vista kernel.

Microsoft is working with ATI on an update which security watchers warn might be far from straightforward to roll-out.

:ouch:
Amazing; but unexpected?
The reference to Atsiv highlights what happens to minnows who poke at M$, to general users detriment.
The forced migration moves on but keeps tripping over itself.
Another reason to hold off Vista.?

Everyone forgets that Microsoft by design deliberately leaves MANY open targets on every O/S release.

Otherwise the technology world wouldn't have the encouragements we enjoy today which they research + create & release for us and would cease to exist.

Think about it.

It's not that bad. If this exploit was to happen, it would affect only people who uses this particular ati drivers. But if a major company like ATI makes such an error, what is the chance of other companies doing the same. Certificate is nice but revoking and having to update is a hassle.
