Hello,
I'm using Disk Director 10 build 2,064
I'm trying to format a 80GB drive with it (NTFS) but when I execute the scroll bar is moving way too fast.
it takes the proggy about 30 seconds to format the whole 80GB....
thing is, after that the drive IS there, i can move files onto it without a problem, but if I try to store a video file on it which is generated by another program I get and error that the drive has errors on it and it can't save.

is this normal that DD will format so fast?
TIA

Yes, that's normal. DD10 is doing a "Quick" format (no checks for bad sectors). Since you're getting error messages then you should probably run chkdsk on the drive to check it for errors.

A "quick" format can be very fast. Even if you do a "quick" format with Windows it will be fast. If the partition/drive doesn't have any errors then it saves a lot of time (it can take hours to do a "long" format, depending on the size of the drive).

If the partition/drive has errors, then you'd be better off doing the "long" format using Windows or running chkdsk /r on the partition after it's created as K0lo suggested.

You may want to keep track of the errors. If chkdsk /r keeps finding new errors then it's probably time to replace the drive as new sectors are failing every time.
