On a IBM ThinkPad T42, the MAC address on the wireless card all of a sudden changed. It now reads: 00:00:00:00:00. Before I re-format..... has anyone seen anything like this before? I just hope that it's not the card that went bad.???

you could try changing it back with one of these below, then if you still have problems and think it's something other then the card making the address change maybe format the drive. i'd just try some other things first before re-formatting.
http://tmac.technitium.com/tmac/index.html
http://www.klcconsulting.net/smac/
http://www.gorlani.com/publicprj/macmakeup/macmakeup.asp

the old address might be stored somewhere here, maybe under NetworkAddress ?? -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002bE10318}\

if it helps you can see your mac address with the arp command, or using ipconfig /all

EDIT i was just thinking about it and i think it may have changed because you used a registry cleaner. if you've used one and have backups you could try putting the backups back.

another reason it might have changed is because that value 00:00:00:00:00 is in the registry, if you find it at that registry location, above, maybe you could delete it ???

actually i don't normally like to reply unless i really know what i'm talking about. what i said above are things that came in to my head, so don't take them as definite reasons for the problem. maybe see what someone else thinks before you do anything!!
